2021 Daily Devotion - Day 438

One thing I enjoy doing in quiet times is reading. As is true of any story, there are good times and bad times for the characters in a book. In one of my favorite series, one character often says to another, “Philippians 4:13, for goodness sake!” And it gets the character back on track – trusting God.

This verse has been called to my mind frequently, particularly recently when asked to write devotionals. Out of my comfort zone, but willing to try, and with Philippians 4:13 in mind, I agreed to write. By the way, praying certainly was involved as well.

Then this morning, a devotional I read had, as its reference, Philippians 4:13. Once again, it was evident to me nothing is going to be successful, or even doable, unless I depend on the One who leads me or calls me to serve.

How many times do we, being human, think we can evaluate and then solve an issue without first consciously seeking His help? It only takes a moment. The peace which follows gives us strength to move forward, and points us in the right direction.

Scripture is filled with words of truth, wisdom, and direction. The words of Paul in Philippians are rich and encouraging, and surely useful.

Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things, through Christ who strengthens me.”

Please pray with me,
Heavenly Father, Your love for us is constant and unending. How blessed we are. For You are interested in the smallest details of our lives. Help us to always trust You and seek You in all things. Thank You for strengthening us in our service to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
