2021 Daily Devotion - Day 287
Several years ago, my wife Torild and I visited Pike’s Peak in Colorado. We took a train ride to the top which is a little over 14,000 feet above sea level. The train is called a “cog railway” or a “cogwheel railway” which means the train itself has “cogs” or cylinders which penetrate into the rack rail, keeping the train from slipping backwards. This allows the trains to operate on steep topography above 10% grade, which is the maximum for friction-based trains. In other words, it is like having an anchor on the train and track as you go up very steep terrain. It is a really impressive sight to see. To me, it seems to be a picture of what God has done in our Lord Jesus Christ. As we have been going through such serious times and are now entering a new year, it is vital for us to have a “cog wheel” as we climb the mountains of life. What will be your “cog wheel”?
