2021 Daily Devotion - Day 429
Micah 6:8
What does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
When Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, they never thought they would see him again. However, God did. God knew exactly how it would play out and even gave them a foreshadowing through Joseph’s dreams. At the time, the brothers thought Joseph was being arrogant and presumptuous, and they wanted no more of him.
Joseph stays faithful to God and is blessed by God. He is given good positions and eventually is given charge of all of Egypt. Was this because Joseph was an incredible businessman? This was because he had the spirit of God in him and Pharaoh could see this.
Joseph could have become bitter and vengeful over what had been done to him, yet he chose to believe in God and God’s plan. He forgave his brothers and embraced them with an abundance of love.
Isn’t it wonderful to know our God is a loving and forgiving God? He loves us so much that He gave His only Son, our Lord, who died for our sins. He is with us whether we’re in a pit or on a mountaintop because He loves us so much. He calls us to have mercy, act justly, and to walk humbly with Him.
Please pray with me:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for each and every day You give us. Thank You for Your love and forgiveness. Guide us to be in Your spirit and act justly towards others, to have mercy and be glad to give it, and to be humble. Help us to forgive others we feel have wronged us, and love as You love us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
