2021 Daily Devotion - Day 402

It was on a hill, around the 10-mile marker, when I needed the encouragement. Fortunately, on the back of my Team World Vision jersey was my name. Hearing complete strangers yell out to me, “Come on Jim!!! You’ve got this! Just a few more to go, Jim! You’re doing great, Jim! Keep it up. You’re almost there!” was just enough to get me to finish the Orange County Half Marathon.

Isn’t it interesting what a little encouragement can do for us? And, just like those strangers in the back bay of Newport Beach cheered me on, our Heavenly Father is on the sidelines cheering for you! When you feel as though you’re ready to quit the race, listen to voice of your biggest fan:

Philippians 4:13 ESV
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, life is filled with challenges. Sometimes they can feel overwhelming and cause me to feel as though I can’t go on. In those times, remind me that You are there strengthening me, helping me, and upholding me with Your righteous right hand. Empower me, that I may also be an encouragement to others. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
