2021 Daily Devotion - Day 398

One of my favorite Christian authors, Jennifer Rothschild, says in her 4:13 podcast, “The fear of missing out on what God has planned for me should be greater than any other fear.”

All of us have fears. We may be afraid of heights, of spiders, of public speaking, of failure, or of what others think of us. Often these fears keep us from moving forward in our lives. We may not apply for the promotion, not introduce ourselves to a new face in church or not embrace an opportunity to serve because of our fears. What a shame that we miss out because we are afraid. Regarding fear and faith, Rick Warren says, “Fear is a self-imposed prison that will keep you from becoming what God intends for you to be.” The good news is God will give us the courage to move past the fear which in action can instill in us. Through Haggai, He tells us, “Take courage and work; for I am with you.” (Haggai 2:4 NASB) – what a wonderful message! Not only will He provide us the courage we need, but He will be with us as we strive to overcome and do His work. Be comforted for we are not alone in our fears. God has courage for us. All we need to do is ask Him.

Pray with me:
Father in Heaven, because You became man, You understand our fears. We rejoice in knowing You will provide us the courage we need to move past fear and stagnation in our lives, to serve You, to grow in our faith and to realize Your purpose for us. Help us to take that step today and embrace the joys of a courageous life walking with You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen,
