2021 Daily Devotion - Day 389
Romans 12:6-8 NIV
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Years ago, Mount of Olives offered a class on Spiritual Gifts, and I thought it might be helpful to know where God was asking me to use my time and talents. It was also a time of reflection for me to pray and grow in my faith, following Jesus’ example of servanthood. My assessment clearly revealed what God had in mind for me. Although I wanted it to point to certain strengths I coveted, it pointed to four specific areas of service for my life. They were Faith, Compassion, Hospitality, and Administration.
Over the years, God has directed me into roles using these gifts in relationships, career, and at church through developing the SHARE Program, which helps feed local struggling families; serving as a Stephen Minister and mentoring moms in the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) Ministry. I would say God has placed these opportunities on my heart, cultivated them, and brought them to fruition. And I have grown in my relationship with Jesus and know the joy of serving Him in the ways He desires.
What has God placed on your heart?
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, You have given each of us special gifts and abilities to enrich Your kingdom. Reveal to us those things which have been uniquely instilled within us. Empower us to use those gifts in service to others. We pray through service, we will glorify You to those around us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
