2021 Daily Devotion - Day 387
Here at Robert H. Lange Preschool, we often find ourselves reflecting and studying the importance of Social Emotional Development. Throughout the entire year, our team implements the small and large details of developing as a whole during the important years of growth. Weber State University states that “Emotional Wellness is the ability to identify, manage and appropriately express a wide range of feelings.” An emotionally well person pays attention to their thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and can react to them in a positive and constructive manner. They possess a sense of humor, a positive self-image and, in general, have a positive attitude towards life. An emotionally well person copes well with stress and negative emotions and is able to grow and learn from life’s challenges, seeking help from others, when needed.
Though there are eight dimensions of wellness, which include physical, social, spiritual, environmental, financial, intellectual and professional, Jesus is yearning for an emotional relationship with your heart, and for it to be a priority in your life. Jesus is craving for you to be at peace and to not let your hearts be troubled, as you pay attention to His love and grace for you. Struggles will come your way. However, those who will commit to growing in a real and profound relationship with Jesus, can connect with His grace in a rich and meaningful way.
When developing Social-Emotional skills, our team will often coach our students and families to be good listeners. This is a core competency skill a child learns from their parents and adults around them! Model the behavior you seek! We learn a great deal about relationships from observing the behavior of one another! Nurture your self-esteem. A healthy sense of self is happier and well-adjusted. Respect differences. Every person has his or her own unique talents and abilities. Honor accomplishments and provide support for the inevitable challenges we will face.
John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you! Do not be troubled and do not be afraid”
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with thanks and praise as You call us into a deeper relationship with You. May Your love and grace shine brightly as we embrace Your peace and leave all worries aside, now and always. In Your name we pray, Amen.
