2021 Daily Devotion - Day 384
As a kid, whenever there was a new home being constructed in our neighborhood, my friends and I thought it was the greatest thing ever! As the deep hole was dug for the basement, with the sand and dirt piled high, we had the perfect battlefield for an all-out, epic dirt-clog war. The adventure did not stop there. As the house was being framed, we had the perfect place to play hide-and-go-seek. When the second story was constructed, we would jump from the open window frames and land on the huge dirt mounds below. With every new house came new adventures!
After returning home from a day at the construction site, I made a startling realization; my engraved silver Speidel ID bracelet was gone! Now before I continue, I need to clarify that it wasn’t the bracelet that was so important to me. As a matter of fact, I don’t think any form of jewelry has any value to most boys in elementary school. What made this bracelet so important to me is that it was given to me by my favorite grandparents! And, the thought of losing it broke my heart.
My mother has always been a prayer warrior and this time was no exception. She prayed that the lost bracelet would be found. After praying, every day she would walk down to the construction site and look for the bracelet. As the snow fell, not only was construction put on hold, but so also was mom’s mission to find the bracelet. However, as spring melted the snow, mom’s search and rescue efforts resumed. Her tenacity paid off. While poking around our battlefield with a stick, there it was: my engraved silver Speidel ID bracelet!
As much as I loved that bracelet, our Heavenly Father loves us so much more. As much as my mother worked to find what was lost, our Heavenly Father does so much more.
Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
Pray with me:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me so much that You sent Your Son to seek and save me. Thank You for never giving up on me. Guide me to help others who are lost; that they, too, may know Your love and experience Your saving grace. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
