2021 Daily Devotion - Day 329
One of my favorite pieces of advice says, “When the grass looks greener on the other side, it is time to water my lawn.”
From time to time, we might look at our lives and compare it to something else or even someone else. And when we do, the temptation is to be filled with envy, and we might want to walk away from our lives and responsibilities. The Ten Commandments tell us not to covet what others have. We don’t really get anywhere wishing we were someone else. Because of Jesus Christ, we are children of God. We are a unique creation of God. There is no one like you anywhere, and so, it is important to be all God has meant for you to be. So instead of wishing we were someone else, it just might be time to water my lawn and become the best me I can become. God’s grace is available to give us the strength to do just that.
Hebrews 12:12-13 NRS
Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, it never helps us to be jealous of others, but sometimes we are. In truth, we really don’t need to because we’re each created by You as a very unique person. Help us to understand just how distinctive we are, and then help us to become all You have created us to be. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
