2020 Daily Devotion - Day 237

The last of the Psalms in the Book of Psalms is Psalm 150.

Psalm 150
Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament!
Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness!
Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Praising the Lord is a good way to start or even end your day. So often, we spend our time in prayer asking for something. It might be for the healing of someone in our lives. It might be for wisdom or greater peace. It might be for a solution to a problem. All of this is good and important to do. The Bible tells us to “cast all of our burdens upon Him for He cares for us”.

However, sometimes we miss the ingredient of praising God in prayer. We can praise God in many ways. As we pray, we can remind God, and ourselves, of all the things He has done in our lives. We can recount out loud the times He brought deliverance in times of need. We can speak aloud in prayer of the times He redirected our path and how much better off we are for it. We can go on and on, and recite before God His faithfulness to us over all the years.

Read Psalm 150 again out loud so your soul hears it. Then take a moment, and recount audibly to God how good He has been to you.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, so often we come to You with all of our burdens and concerns. It is such a blessing to be able to do this. Help us to take some additional steps in our spiritual growth and development. Increase in us the ability to give You praise. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yours because of Him,
Pastor John R. Steward
