2020 Daily Devotion - Day 229

“The best way out is always through.” - Robert Frost

In our lives, we struggle with this idea. We would rather find the short cuts. We would rather travel the easy road, while others simply run away altogether. We do this through making promises we don’t keep and telling lies hoping others will forget. And then there is always denial; when we try to pretend everything is fine when it is not. The problem is, none of these approaches really work. Robert Frost is correct. Instead of trying to go around the problem, why not face it straight on? Instead of telling people what they want to hear, try being honest and even transparent.

As the children of Israel were passing into the Promised Land, they too were nervous. However, through Moses, God gave them this promise, and He gives it to you this very day:

Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, the temptation to find the shortcut or run away is always strong. During this season, we have often wanted to take the shortcut and run away. However, the problem has been, there is nowhere to go. However, You have promised to go with us “through” the challenges which stand before us. Give us courage as we take new steps to travel through the challenges we face. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yours because of Him,
