2020 Daily Devotion - Day 225
Heroism is endurance for one moment more.― George F. Kennan
What is the difference between those who are successful and those who are not? Often, it is the ingredient of tenacity and not giving up. Many people stop striving because they think life is all up to them. They believe, if they are going to be fruitful, it is because of their skills and abilities. And while a great deal of this is important, they miss God in their calculations.
Many do not really want God involved in their lives until they are in trouble, while others think He is too busy with other matters to care about what is going in their lives. Whichever view we have will lead to a situation where God is “on the outside looking in”. It is essential for us to come to the place where we not only recognize and honor Him as God, but rely on Him to give us the strength we need. Having God as our strength means we can “endure for one minute more”. This is what the Psalmist means:
Psalm 16:8 ESV
I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, when we begin to think our situation is somewhat hopeless, help us to endure one minute more through Your strength living within us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
