2020 Daily Devotion - Day 223

Psalm 100 ESV
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

This is a Psalm for giving thanks. It is vital for us to give thanks to God because it changes our outlook and attitude. It moves us from fault-finding and negativity to the better attitude of thankfulness. No one likes to be around a bitter, negative person. However, everyone enjoys the presence of a thankful person filled with faith and hope.

We can give thanks because whatever we are going through, the Lord remains God. He made us and we are His.

Furthermore, we can give thanks because His love is steadfast – it endures forever. And the same faithfulness He has given to past generations, He will give to you.

Repeat this Psalm out loud more than once today. Allow it to speak to your heart, soul and mind.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, we do give You thanks for Your steadfast love and faithfulness. You have shown this love and faithfulness by sending our Lord Jesus for our salvation and redemption. As we give You thanks and praise, change our attitude. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

"An optimist may see a light where there is none, but why must the pessimist always run to blow it out?" Many people often look at the negative side of life. President Reagan used to say that when people do this, it’s as if when you “give them a silver lining, they will find a cloud”. Of course, he was using the old saying “in every cloud, there is a silver lining” and reversing it to make a point. It is very important to be a “glass half full” kind of person. Looking for and expecting good things helps us to stay hope-filled. So, on this new day, be a positive person. Look for the good in everything. Look for hope in everything. Refuse to let yourselves dwell on the negative. Speak to others in inspirational ways, and you will find that your days will be better.
