2020 Daily Devotion - Day 203

From the comic strip, The Born Loser by Art Sansom, we read about the Thornapple family.

One day Gladys Thornapple is fixing lunch; when in walks her son, Wilberforce, all decked out in his baseball outfit. Mom asks, "How did Little League go?" Wilberforce growls, "Terrible, I struck out three times." Trying to console her son, Mom says, "That’s all part of the game, honey." Wilberforce exploded with exasperation, "Mom, its T-ball!"

Perhaps you have felt like you are always striking out, when you should be at least getting one hit. Life can be this way sometimes. There are just times when things are not working for us. It might be a good time to reach out for some help from those who could give good counsel; even just so you don’t have to go it alone.

If this is a time of setbacks for you, please know God has not forgotten you. He is near and is walking with you. Keep swinging the bat and He will see you through.

Psalm 34:18 ESV
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, there are days when nothing seems to go the way it should. There are days when we become discouraged and disheartened. But You have promised to be with us in those times, and have said You will save our crushed spirit. Please remind us of this promise today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yours because of Him,
Pastor John R. Steward
