2020 Daily Devotion - Day 201

Psalm 61 ESV
Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer;
from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,
for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.
Let me dwell in your tent forever!
Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! Selah
For you, O God, have heard my vows;
you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

The Holy Spirit spoke this word to King David. David was someone who had lived a great deal of life in both positive and negative ways. He often referenced his sinfulness. And the entire world has been aware of his sinful activities for centuries. David also faced many challenges like the one as a young shepherd facing the giant, Goliath; defeating him. So, if David found that God was one you couldn’t trust or who would not keep His promises, he wouldn’t have written words like these. But since He had faced the full spectrum of life and found God faithful, He passed this word down to you and me today. Take it from David.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, You have proven Your faithfulness to all generations. During these days, continue to remind us You will remain faithful and will bring us to the rock which is higher than we are. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yours because of Him,
Pastor John R. Steward
