2020 Daily Devotion - Day 166

Charlie Brown told Lucy, “There’s just no hope for our baseball team,” and Lucy said, “Well Charlie, you lose some and you win some.” And Charlie Brown said, “That would be great!”

There are times when you don’t feel like you are winning or losing. And there are times when we feel like we are losing, even when we are winning. Perhaps this is what is happening for you at this time. One of the problems is we base our “winning” or “losing” on what the world considers winning and losing to be. The world honors power, success, materialism and much more. When we measure our lives by the standards of the world, we often feel confused and discouraged.
One change we can make, is to examine winning and losing from the perspective of God’s Word. What are the values God honors? Well, God honors faithfulness and trust in Him. God honors humility and servanthood. Look to His Word to find the values which truly satisfy.

Psalm 37:23-24 ESV
The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, help us to measure our lives by the principles and standards which truly matter. Give us new eyes and vision for the things that matter to You so we may find peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yours because of Him,
Pastor John R. Steward
Senior Pastor
