2020 Daily Devotion - Day 163
One of the great challenges of these days is dealing with fear. However, it is not just because of all of the things we see around us at this time. Perhaps our times have magnified our fear, but the truth is, a great many people are always dealing with fear at some level. From the fear of health concerns, to money problems, a lot of people live with a certain degree of constant fear. And even though they might not talk much about it or show it in their expression, there is the feeling the other shoe is about to drop. This is how the book of Proverbs addresses fear:
Proverbs 29:25 ESV
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
So, it becomes essential for us to grow in faith and trust in God. We do this through having a relationship with Him through our Lord Jesus Christ. This means allowing Him to be in charge of our lives and for us to submit to Him. It means every time we are afraid, we pray; opening our Bibles and allowing Him to pour His Word into our hearts; investing in Christian community. We can even look back over our lives and see how His hand has guided us. And as we do, we can be assured and reminded that if He did it in the past, He will do it again in the future.
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, too often we have this low-grade level of fear gnawing at our souls. Replace our fear with faith. Help us to grow in our relationship with You so we can be set free from fear. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
