2020 Daily Devotion - Day 162

There are so many people who believe they can live their lives, for the most part, separate from God and His principles. When it comes to knowing how to live their lives, they make those determinations through a combination of resources. It’s a mixed soup of what their parents taught them, what friends say and what is currently popular in the culture. They mix all of this together and believe they have a road map for living. They even come to conclude the nature of God in the same way. This is why people think you can somehow earn your way to heaven; which you can’t. This mixed bag of ideas leads them to think it complies in a general way with what God would want them to do and how He would have them live. It just feels right. But what if they are wrong?

Proverbs 14:12 ESV
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

We can only know what is right and wrong through God’s Word. This is why it is so important to read and study the Bible. The world can be wrong a great deal of the time, but God is never wrong, nor is His Word to us. In these confusing times, we need to be guided by truth and not by what seems right. Open your Bible every day. Begin reading the Gospel of John and then the other Gospels and allow God to lead you into all truth.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, You have not left us to ourselves to figure out what we should do and how we should live. We cannot determine life through what might seem right to us at the time. You have provided Your Word to us, and it always leads to life, peace and hope. Help us to open our Bibles and allow You to give us the instruction for which we are desperate. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yours because of Him,
Pastor John R. Steward
