2020 Daily Devotion - Day 158
If you have ever met a famous person, you sometimes find yourself in a little bit of awe. And if you get to spend some time with them, you may feel like it is somewhat of a privilege. I think sometimes, in the back of our mind, we feel this same way with God. Moreover, we think He only spends His time with those who are very successful and accomplished. When we are struggling and in pain, we think God has more important things to do than to deal with my situation. The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ teaches us He is a down-to-earth God, who comes to meet us in all of our needs. This is what the psalmist is saying in this passage:
Psalm 34:18 ESV
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, we are so glad to know You are not just engaged in the most pressing problems of our time, but You are near to those who are broken and have had their spirits crushed. On this day, remind those who are hurting that You are near and will not abandon them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Yours because of Him,
