2020 Daily Devotion - Day 141

"Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?” – Corrie ten Boom

This is a question which comes from a woman who survived the Holocaust. She knows what she is talking about and is asking a very good question. If we are in charge of our lives and are making all of the decisions, then prayer is like a spare tire; only used when we have no other options. However, if God is the one in charge of our hearts, then it can be a tool God uses to actually guide and lead our lives.

Which is it for you? I urge you to allow it to be the steering wheel. And as you pour out your heart to God, you will find He hears you and will lead you. This is what the psalmist discovered:

Psalm 55:16-17 ESV
But I call to God, and the Lord will save me.
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, through prayer we can come to You. You will even hear and understand our moans and cries. Not only will you hear us, but you will answer, guide and lead our lives. Each day, lead us to the path which you have planned for us and give us confidence in knowing You will keep Your promises. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Yours because of Him,
