2020 Daily Devotion - Day 129

Many years ago, before my wife and I were married, she was going through some challenging times. At the time, she was a single mom. She didn’t have a great deal of money and her dishwasher had broken. So she called Sears, and a Sears repairman came out and fixed the dishwasher and spent some time listening and talking with her. After he left, she realized he hadn’t left a bill for the repair. So, she called Sears. They told her they didn’t have a repairman by that name, and they had no record of anyone coming to her home to repair her dishwasher. She couldn’t understand this, because he came in a Sears truck wearing a Sear’s uniform, and yet there was no record of this happening. She has since said the time he spent listening to her was very comforting, and we think what really happened was she had experienced a visit from an angel.

Hebrews 13:2 ESV
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Angels are spirit beings God created to serve His purpose. Human beings do not become angels when they die, but God does watch over us with His angels. So during this difficult time, just remember, God is always looking after you – even using His angels to guard and keep you.

Psalm 91:11 ESV
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for always watching over us; even sending your angels to guard and protect us. Give us greater strength by knowing all of the ways in which You look after us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yours because of Him,
Pastor John R. Steward
