2020 Daily Devotion - Day 118
Many years ago, there was a secular musical in live theater called “Godspell.” It was a musical about Jesus with a more contemporary vibe. I loved most of the music, but the problem was there was no resurrection of Jesus at the end. There was one song with a wonderful message I think we can use as a prayer in our own lives today. It was the song, “Day by Day.”
Day by Day
Day by day
Day by day
Oh, Dear Lord
Three things I pray
To see thee more clearly
Love thee more dearly
Follow thee more nearly
Day by day
The Apostle Paul gives a similar word in Colossians:
Colossians 2:6-7 ESV
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, in these difficult days, this needs to be our prayer; we will be rooted and built up in Christ Jesus day by day. Through Your Holy Spirit, continue to work in our lives to grow us toward greater spiritual maturity. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
