2020 Daily Devotion - Day 114
When I was in High School, I took a photography class. We had many different assignments. We learned how to do portraits. We experimented with different themes and scenes in nature. We learned a little about advertising photography. One of the parts of the class I found so incredible was being in the dark room, developing the film and doing enlargements. I had never been in a room so dark. You could see absolutely nothing. In fact, it was so dark that your mind started playing tricks on you, and you thought you saw things you didn’t really see.
Right now, maybe you feel a little like you are in a dark room. Or maybe, it is a dark place. Maybe it is more like being outside on a starless night. The darkness in the world today is all about confusion, lies and empty promises. Because of the darkness, it is difficult to see. We need more clarity. We need more light. Here is what Jesus promises:
John 8:12 NRSV
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
The more you turn your life over to Him, the more light you will have. The more you study His Word, the more light you will have. The more you are in Christian fellowship, the more light you will have. He really can bring light to the darkest room or situation. Look to Him for light.
Pray with me:
Jesus, we thank You for being the light of the world. So much of the world is in darkness, but You bring the light of truth. Give us this light. In Your Holy name. Amen.
Yours because of Him,
