2020 Daily Devotion - Day 108
It is believed the Prophet Jeremiah wrote the book of Lamentations in the Old Testament. It was written during a time of great suffering. Nebuchadnezzar had captured the city of Jerusalem in 586 BC. Jeremiah was filled with grief, and also hope.
In the midst of our challenges, we also need this word of hope.
Lamentations 3:22-24 NRSV
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, knowing Your love never ceases gives us hope. Just as the Prophet Jeremiah says “they are new every morning,” help us to begin this new day with the assurance of Your great faithfulness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
