2020 Daily Devotion - Day 93
Do you ever get to the point where you avoid the news on television or online? If you watch enough of it, it can take you beyond a place of being informed, to one of being totally discouraged – even depressed. It can bring you to a place of feeling helpless and hopeless. This is why it is essential to read, study and even memorize the Word of God; the Bible. His Word can fill you with hope. Here is a passage I would encourage you to memorize. It might take a while. However, when you find yourself anxious or cannot sleep, just start reciting these words, and you will be amazed at how it changes your outlook.
Psalm 121 NRSV
I lift up my eyes to the hills—from where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.
He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, as we sometimes are filled with anxiety and fear, remind us that You never slumber or sleep. Our help comes from You. Fill us with Your Word so we can be strong and resilient in these challenging days, and always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
