2020 Daily Devotion - Day 78

Psalm 94:18-19 ESV
When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.

Just as things were starting to turn around with the Coronavirus, national unrest and riots started in the streets. The misuse of power by a police officer in Minneapolis caused a reaction to racism. Millions of people are deeply upset because this keeps happening. But violence only causes more violence. And the violence in the streets is wrong and never an answer to the challenges and issues like this.

It seems like the words of the psalmist say it is like when I am climbing something, like a ladder or a hill, and my foot slips. Just as restaurants and businesses are opening up, our foot slips. Then what? This is when God’s strength and power are there to continue to give us support. His foot never slips and we can still rely upon Him.

Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, when it feels like our foot is slipping, remind us of Your steady presence. For we know You have all things in Your hands. You remain in ultimate control and command of our nation and Your world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yours because of Him,
