2020 Daily Devotion - Day 71
We often become impatient; especially during this pandemic. We ask, “When will this end?” People say, “If we only knew when this would end, it would make it a lot easier.” I am sure this is true. Sometimes we are even impatient with God. So how should we understand this? First, we should recognize that God’s timing is not the same as ours. Second, we need to be reassured that He will keep His promises. Then, we put these two together. This is what is meant in 2 Peter 8-9.
2 Peter 3:8-9 ESV
But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, it is difficult to wait. We are very impatient people. Please remind us and sustain us in knowing You are not slow to fulfill Your promises. You will be faithful to us. Keep us focused on these truths. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
