2020 Daily Devotion - Day 57
Bill Butsko tells the story of a mother and her little four-year-old daughter who were preparing to go to bed for the night. The child was afraid of the night. The child was afraid of the dark. And the mother, alone with the child, felt a little afraid also.
When the light was out, the child caught a glimpse of the moon outside the window. “Mother,” she asked, “is the moon God’s light?” “Yes,” said the mother, “God’s lights are always shining.”
The next question was, “Will God turn off His light and go to sleep?” “No, my child, God never goes to sleep.” Then, out of the simplicity of a child’s faith, the little one said that which gave reassurance to the fearful mother, “Well, as long as God is awake, I am not afraid.”
Isn’t it good to know that God’s light never goes out, and He is always awake watching over your life?
Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Heavenly Father, thank You for never turning off Your light. You are always watching over us and for all of the needs of our lives. Give us courage in knowing You never slumber nor sleep. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
