2020 Daily Devotion - Day 4
There are times in life when we begin to think that there is no hope. We become “sick and tired of being sick and tired”. Sometimes, it even causes us to be cynical. When we come to this place, we are not a lot of fun to be with. It can even cause us to be more isolated. But it is vital that we reject hopelessness. Look at this verse:
Romans 15:13 RSV
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
How is it that God can be the “God of Hope”? It is because He is Almighty which means He is all powerful. Nothing can defeat Him. He is the God of Hope, because He knows how things will turn out and that they will turn out according to His loving plan.
The Apostle Paul, who is offering this prayer, is asking that the Spirit of this Hope filled God will live in us and bring His Hope, Peace and Joy.
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, this is our prayer, too. Remind us that You are in charge. You have a plan. You will see us through. Fill us with Your Hopeful nature. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
